Blog Buddy Friday: Gary Maxwell

Gary MaxwellI’d like to introduce everyone to poet/songwriter Gary Maxwell over at Fool’s Blog. Gary is probably one of the most charming and talented wordsmiths I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. He can turn a simple line of poetry into a complete story simply by choosing the right words and by manipulating the way the words are used. It’s amazing.

His poetry never fails to delight and entertain. He has an awesome sense of the ridiculous and never fails to give me a good laugh or two or three. If I need to feel a little more cheerful all I have to do is visit Gary for a while and he never fails to add a dose of humor to my day. But he’s not all about humor. Some of his work is very serious and thought provoking.

There’s one more thing you need to know about Gary. He just happens to be a darn nice guy. Go visit Gary and have some fun with words and while you’re there read Massachusetts, one of his serious pieces and one of my favorites.  https://yeoldefoole.wordpress.com

Blog Buddy Friday: Know-All

Today it’s my great pleasure to introduce you to one of my favorite blog buddies, Mr. Know-All over at http://knowallsbox.com. Don’t let the name fool you, it in no way means he’s a know it all type person. It’s taken from the protagonist of a short story by Somerset Maugham, a person who has an opinion about everything. Know-All resides in Calcutta and his blog is filled with the places he travels and the beautiful photographs he captures on these journeys.

Mr. Know-All was absent from his blog for quite some time due to the business of life and has recently returned with more of his lovely posts. I missed him and was very happy at his return. How long he’ll remain is anyone’s guess, as it is for most of us. He’s a delightfully charming young man and also like us, he has a life to live. While he’s around and posting, I intend to enjoy his blog to the fullest.

When you take a trip at his blog, you’ll get a true feel for the region and the people who reside there. You’ll be learning the history of a place while being vastly entertained and without feeling as though you’ve sat through a long and tedious lecture. He has a true gift for this, which is why I’ve always enjoyed my visits to Know-All’s Box. When you have a chance, go on over and take a trip with Know-All. You will have a wonderful time. BTW, I do know his true name, but I’m not telling. 🙂 Have fun!

Blog Buddy Friday: Maniparna Sengupta Majumder

maniparnaMy blog buddy Friday posts continue today as we visit with Maniparna Sengupta Majumder at Scattered Thoughts. Maniparna resides in Kolkata, India and her blog is similar to mine in that she writes and posts on a large variety of topics. You’ll find lovely photos, poems, short stories, book reviews, product reviews, childhood memories, and just random thoughts.

Maniparna is a strong personality, intelligent, beautiful and charming. Her blog reflects this in every way. In her own words she says, “What I feel, I write”. I’ve found this to be very true as I’ve visited her over the months. Maniparna has strong opinions on different issues and isn’t afraid to voice them. She’s also a delightful lady and it’s been a great pleasure getting to know her better.

Take a little time, drop in at Scattered Thoughts and say hello to Maniparna. You’ll love her and her blog. I know I do. 🙂

Blog Buddy Friday: Mary

Frederick_Judd_Waugh_-_Along_the_Coast,_oil_on_board

This photo is representational only and is not one of Mary’s.

Today I’d like to introduce you to another one of my favorite blogging artists, Mary over at Oil Pastels By Mary. I’m sorry I don’t have a photo of Mary to share. You will just have to imagine her as I do–beautiful, perky, with sparkling eyes shining with an artist’s passion. 😉

Mary is a new, self taught artist and her work is phenomenal. Landscapes, seascapes, portraits, they’re all sensational. My favorites are the seascapes, although I’m always amazed by her portrait sketches. Most especially impressive are the elderly faces she does. You can see the passing of years on those faces and each one has a different story to tell.

In Mary’s own words: “In 2011 I tried oil pastels (OPs) and was immediately sold on this medium.  Except for underpaintings, my pieces are exclusively painted with oil pastels.  I enjoy the challenge of layering paint to expose rich color and values, and moving and manipulating OPs around the painting surface – it’s all very fascinating to me.”….Mary

When you have time to truly peruse her magnificent pieces, hop on over to Oil Pastels By Mary and enjoy!

Blog Buddy Friday – Resa McConaghy

ResaToday we’re flying to Canada to visit with one of my favorite bloggers, Resa at Graffit Lux and Murals or GlaM for short. Resa’s blog is all about the art–graffiti art and murals. Although she began documenting and showcasing the graffiti art from around Toronto and Winnipeg, Resa is now featuring art from other North American cities that she finds through her own travels and guest contributions. You’ll be amazed at the quality and quantity of talented artists and phenomenal art displayed over at GlaM. I began visiting Resa’s blog because of the art, but I found her to be such an open, warm, and delightful person I’d visit even if the art disappeared. I can’t see that happening though, she’s pretty passionate about it. Thank you, Resa, for highlighting so many talented artists and giving so much enjoyment to those of us who love their work. Go visit Resa and while you’re there, visit the tiger page here: http://graffitiluxandmurals.com/2014/03/01/tiger-miami-two/ It’s breathtaking and my very favorite so far.

Blog Buddy Friday-A Tramp in the Woods

ColinThis one is for all you nature lovers out there. Today we’re taking a walk in the Forest of Dean with Colin over at A Tramp in the Woods. As most of you know there’s not much I enjoy more than a tramp along the creek or through the woods so of course when I found Colin’s blog, I was in love. Not only is his blog filled with phenomenal nature photos and videos, but there’s a wealth of educational information contained in his delightful and often humorous narration. His latest post details a way to raise butterflies to release back to the wild. When you visit be sure to take time to watch the video. It’s awesome. Colin claims to have no area of expertise, but he sure knows his nature.

Taken from Colin’s bio:   “I write about and photograph the nature around me from a little farm in The Forest of Dean. I watch plants, animals, fungi, I don’t have a field of expertise but I do have a field full of Wildflowers and Badgers.”

If you love nature like I do, go visit Colin and take A Tramp in the Woods.

Blog Buddy Friday: Janell Mithani

JanellMithaniI’m going to leave the world of writing for just a bit as we visit some of my favorite artists. First up is an extremely gifted artist, Janell Mithani at http://janellmithani.com. Janell grew up in a rural area of the northwestern United States, but now makes her home in Southern California. Other than art, a couple of things Janell and I have in common is our love of gardening and the outdoors. I know when  I visit her blog, I’ll leave with a smile because you simply can’t look at her work without coming away with a feeling of happiness. I believe her artist statement says it better than I ever could:

“A world of radiant enchantment merged with the lush details of nature inspires me to create.  The reflective shapes of trees, often shaped by wind and rain, bring strength and presence to my canvas. Childlike memories of magical beings float through the landscape of my mind and fill my sketchbooks.  I explore relating the feminine sketches from my journal to the landscapes that come from my brush.  Their dance calls to me; therefore, I continue to paint.”…Janell Mithani

I have always loved fairies so of course some of my favorite paintings of Janell’s are her mystical little fairies, but I also love her colorful landscapes and flowers. Janell not only paints, but creates beautiful jewelry and is a skilled photographer. Do a Google image search of this lovely lady’s name and you’ll be amazed at what comes up.

When you have time, go visit Janell. You’ll love her work. http://janellmithani.com

Blog Buddy Friday: David Prosser

DavidToday I’d like you to meet David Prosser over at barsetshirediaries. Or maybe to be more correct I should say Lord David. David hails from the UK and in his own words is a retired government worker. I adore this guy and his blog.

He’s a gifted writer and as the title of his blog indicates, it’s written in diary style, giving a rundown of his week day by day. Filled with humorous anecdotes, a few music videos and lovely photos of David, his family and adorable little Reuben, it’s a great place to hang out for awhile.

Go on over and introduce yourself to David and don’t forget to leave a hug. Like myself, David is a firm believer in the power of a nice hug. 🙂
