I often have hawks visit my yard. This is a young one and not nearly as large as some.

Elizabeth, I took a photo of a hawk recently in someone’s yard. I wish it looked as clear as this! 🙂

Thanks, Robin. He let me walk right up to him, unfortunately my phone photos always look like things are a hundred miles away, but it was all I had with me when I spotted him.

You’re so lucky this happened! I’ve never had anything but sparrows or maybe a Tuy.

Elizabeth: That hawk looks big to me. Are the adults much bigger, then?

Oh, yes, Cynthia. They can be much bigger. The first one I saw on the fence was more than twice that size. And there was a huge one on the wire next to my yard the other day. He/she was watching my doxy pup so I snatched him up and put him inside.

I wonder if he thought he was in luck and there was a meal handy with the big butterfly on the fence. Those are wonderful photographs Elizabeth.

Hi, David. Thank you for the lovely comment. ❤ They hang around because of all the squirrels, but they also watch my doxy pup. Hope you have a wonderful day. ((HUGS)))

We have a Sharp-shinned hawk that hangs out in our yard. He’s stalking my little birdies, but I guess he’s got to eat too. 😦

Thanks, Clare. I’m getting there, but would still rather be home or what was home for so many years. 🙂

I do understand. When we moved to Somerset from here 12 years ago I was absolutely distraught. My husband’s job moved him and we had to go. I said that I would go on the understanding that we would move back here eventually. I did my best and got involved in the community there – and made some good friends too! My husband was very happy – he has always moved around and enjoys change. Fortunately, we were given the opportunity to move back here much sooner than we expected and I jumped at it. I found living in Somerset much better than I had expected and I believe it made me a stronger person (a long story) but Suffolk is home. It is so hard when couples have different needs and aspirations from each other – one or other has to give way and subdue their own wants. You are in my prayers, Elizabeth.

Thanks, Elaine. Yes, there’s an ornamental butterfly on the fence. I’ve taken it down to repaint at present. 🙂

Bonjour ELIZABETH

Well actually it was my phone. 😀 I love large birds but they are stalking my dog and it’s really becoming a worry, but since they are protected by law there isn’t much one can do.
