This photo is representational only and is not one of Mary’s.

Today I’d like to introduce you to another one of my favorite blogging artists, Mary over at Oil Pastels By Mary. I’m sorry I don’t have a photo of Mary to share. You will just have to imagine her as I do–beautiful, perky, with sparkling eyes shining with an artist’s passion. 😉

Mary is a new, self taught artist and her work is phenomenal. Landscapes, seascapes, portraits, they’re all sensational. My favorites are the seascapes, although I’m always amazed by her portrait sketches. Most especially impressive are the elderly faces she does. You can see the passing of years on those faces and each one has a different story to tell.

In Mary’s own words: “In 2011 I tried oil pastels (OPs) and was immediately sold on this medium.  Except for underpaintings, my pieces are exclusively painted with oil pastels.  I enjoy the challenge of layering paint to expose rich color and values, and moving and manipulating OPs around the painting surface – it’s all very fascinating to me.”….Mary

When you have time to truly peruse her magnificent pieces, hop on over to Oil Pastels By Mary and enjoy!

I'm a novelist, poet, and artist. I love books, nature, art, and gardening. I'm a rock hound and there's a photo of me with a cool fossil rock on my about page, I take a lot of nature pictures. The background here is one of mine. Unfortunately I recently lost my wonderful husband, but I'm grateful to have the blessing of two beautiful sons. elizabethmeltonparsons.wordpress.com is © Elizabeth Melton Parsons 2007-2018. 12. This is always thoughtful of you, to feature someone else on your post. I appreciate your description of Mary. I feel being blog buddies and friends connected through our writing is a very good outcome from blogging. I sometimes fall behind and must apologize for this bad habit. • I know, Robin. It’s the same with me. Not enough time to do it all. I had not been by your blog for a while and decided to drop in and see what you had been up too. I hate not being able to visit everyone as often as I’d like to. Thank you for taking the time to visit me. I appreciate it very much. hugs
