Come to me,
you lovely creature,
Stalking by night
in the deepest of fog,
Catching the innocent unaware.
Come to me,
I wait with open arms.
So many have fallen prey
to your dark charms.
Unknowing,
they follow where you lead.
They dance mindlessly
right into the mouth of hell.
Oh yes, my Dark Angel,
you have many lovers.
Come to me,
I wait, I yearn.
You care not that I wait.
You wish me to follow,
but I cannot.
You must come to me.
I can see the darkness of your cloak
through the swirling fog.
Yes, come nearer.
Come to me,
I wait.
I will have you, my Dark Angel.
I will have you.
Very cool. I’m not sure if this is what you were going for but it made me think of temptation and how we sometimes secretly wish we could live the hedonistic lives everyone else seems to be living (but we of course know better… Haha).
Thanks, Joshua, and welcome to my blog. I’m always so happy when someone gives me their take on my work. In this case, I took it from a book I was writing, but knew I’d never finish and added it to my last poetry book . Thought it was just right for Halloween along with the beautiful art work. Have a nice Halloween. 🙂
Excellent poem Elizabeth…
I liked these verses very much:
“Come to me,
I wait, I yearn.
You care not that I wait.
You wish me to follow,
but I cannot”.
Thanks for sharing, all the best to you!, Aquileana 😀

“Quizás viajar no sea suficiente para prevenir la intolerancia, pero si logra demostrarnos que todas las personas lloran, ríen, comen, se preocupan y mueren, puede entonces introducir la idea de que si tratamos de entendernos los unos a los otros, quizás hasta nos hagamos amigos” – Maya Angelou

I like how you mix two distinct feels into one poem, I do like the feel of it, temptations, angels, steaminess, nice!
