Photos: Creepy Critters and a Silly Selfie

My husband took these of this handsome Mantis at work one day. I snapped a shot of the slugs after dark when they surprised me as I was going up a step. And the selfie was snapped in front of my old vintage mirror. Talk about creepy. I hate being photographed and selfies are even worse. Photos always remind me of all the things I’m not. You know, tall, thin, young, lovely…ect. But that’s okay, I am what I am and someone asked me to post a selfie, so here you are. And I promise it’s the one and only I’ll ever post here. Nothing worse than selfies of myself, but at least in front of a mirror, you don’t get that awkward extended arm shot. 😀 How about you? Do you love having your picture taken? Are you a selfie addict? And how do feel about these critters? Do they give you the shivers or do you love them?

  3. I always love to see a Praying Mantis! Nice selfie, Elizabeth…I love that color on you! 🙂 I’ve never taken a selfie…I hate having my picture taken.

    • Thank you. I love that color, Jill. Of course I love all colors. LOL. People are always asking me what my favorite color is, but I’ve never been able to pick one. I can’t imagine anyone as lovely as you hating to have your photo taken. If I looked even remotely as attractive as you, I’d be in front of a camera every time one was near. Hummm…vanity. Maybe it’s a good thing I’m not. 😉

  8. Oh, Elizabeth, it’s a wonderful picture!!!!! No I have done a few selfies but only for my own viewing. I think the people who do them for Facebook are very brave. Interesting how the slug photo and the mantis pix are mixed in. I hope this is not your view of yourself! 🙂 You are so pretty!!!!!

    • Oh, Hollis, you’re so sweet, but I’m afraid my pretty days are far behind me. I hardly recognize myself when I look in the mirror, but that’s okay. I just avoid mirrors and I have a great imagination. I can imagine myself anyway I like. 😀 Have a lovely day. Hugs, Elizabeth

  10. Slugs are a familiar sight in my garden and climbing up my walls and on my window panes. Snails, too.

  11. So that’s what you look like, it is always fun to put a face to a blogger, next stop a vlog please…possibly one of you holding a mantis hehe1

    • Yes, it’s always nice to be able to put a face to the voice or words since we do not hear the voice online normally. As for the vblog of me holding the mantis. That ain’t gonna happen. I think they’re cool creatures, but when they turn their head around and look at me, I freak. That is just too Exorcist like. 😮

  14. Hi Elizabeth! I am not a fan of praying mantis, slugs or selfies – but of the three slugs are worst I think. The mantis helps out with ridding the garden of pests, so though I don’t necessarily approve of her mating habits, she can be borne – so I guess the selfie falls in the middle somewhere. 🙂 I also like that you are concentrating in your photo and you look lovely! 🙂

  15. I like all sorts of critter. Some I prefer not to see in person though. The praying mantis & slugs are not bad. I think the pm is a cool critter & the slug is kind of hypnotic.
As for the selfies. I don’t mind them. But – I prefer to have others in the pic with me. I don’t mind having my pic taken. But – if you don’t take it right away – I tend to get antsy & silly. I can only be serious for about half a second.
I like your selfie Has a heavenly feel to it with the way the lighting is coming through. 🙂
