I can’t recall ever wishing so hard for spring. I normally enjoy winter, but this one has cured me of that. I was thinking yesterday that it’s only been three months since we became stuck in the deep freeze. Not that long really. I shouldn’t have such a bad case of cabin fever. I think it’s because normally we’d have a few days or a couple of weeks of cold and maybe some ice or snow, but then we’d have a moderate spell, back and forth. And it goes that way all winter. This year it’s been a never ending freeze out with temps colder than in 20 years. And I believe I’ve only seen the bare yard once this winter. That’s very unusual for this area. Oh well, I’m just whining. Here’s some pictures of this very long winter.
I'm a novelist, poet, and artist. I love books, nature, art, and gardening. I'm a rock hound and there's a photo of me with a cool fossil rock on my about page, I take a lot of nature pictures. The background here is one of mine. Unfortunately I recently lost my wonderful husband, but I'm grateful to have the blessing of two beautiful sons.

Thanks, Jean. I know you’ve had it even worse than we have. But spring is on the way. I have it on good authority. There was a Robin in the back yard yesterday. 🙂

Oh, wow! Never experienced snow. If I could I’d surely send you some. I can still remember the first time I witnessed my first snowfall. We were in Michigan and I was seven years old. I thought it was the most beautiful and glorious thing ever. We were heading back to Florida and I begged my Dad to wait a few days, so I could enjoy it. But no dice. A couple of years later we were back in Michigan and didn’t leave soon enough. Woke up to 40 inches of fluffy white stuff. I was a very happy camper. Although Dad was not too pleased. 🙂

You sound like you’ve had almost too much snow this winter, while over here in Scotland we had hardly a sprinkle…I’m missing my snow fix, so thanks for providing some!

That’s a great word, Noel. This winter has been brutal. On the bright side (if there is one)–I never saw so much amazing beauty, and I never lost my power, and my pipes didn’t freeze. Have to always count those blessings. Right? Hugs, Elizabeth

Lovely photos, especially for someone who isn’t experiencing your conditions…I love the little white bits at the corner of your photographs, it makes it look like a little snow has collected there. I get a solitudinous feeling from your photos. I love that.
