I wrote this for my son years ago when he came home from school with a tale his teacher had told of a large frog saving a smaller one from a snake one day at his pond. An amazing story and it fired my imagination.
The Frog Pond
Glistening, gleaming waters calm,
Castles green of sparkling glass_
Shadows cast by swaying palms.
Green Knights strong and bold of caste,
Keeping watch both night and day.
Castle guards must never sleep,
Protecting those of weaker sway.
Dangers lurk in waters deep_
Attacking Dragon from the east_
Ravenously stalking with deadly intent_
Slithering slowly round the Keep.
Victim paralyzed, all courage spent_
Trapped within the mouth of doom,
Hope still lives in this young Prince.
Within his breast dreams still bloom_
Croaking out with last breath spent.
Knight of courage and renown,
Certain rescue to unfold_
Pulling tail of serpent down_
Bold young Knight of green and gold.
Saving Kingdom and the Prince_
Peace now reigns in this small bog_
Never seen the Dragon hence,
In this Kingdom of the Frog.
