Images – Rocks -Rocks – and Old Marbles

I’m a rock hound. I’ve been crazy about rocks since I was a kid. I used to have quite a collection and have found actual gemstones, amethyst, jasper, agate, tiger’s eye, and even a large chunk of red garnet. I didn’t find them by going to one of those places where you pay and then search for gems, although that sounds like fun. I found mine out hiking in different ares of the country and along creek banks. But gemstones aside. I love plain old rocks. I took a few pictures yesterday of some the ones I recently found or have in my yard. One of them is a synthetic rock my oldest son made for me and I painted. And I’m posting a few pictures of my marbles. I love marbles and have fond memories of drawing a circle in the dirt in the Everglades of South Florida, squatting down with my buddies and winning their best ones. 🙂

I'm a novelist, poet, and artist. I love books, nature, art, and gardening. I'm a rock hound and there's a photo of me with a cool fossil rock on my about page, I take a lot of nature pictures. The background here is one of mine. Unfortunately I recently lost my wonderful husband, but I'm grateful to have the blessing of two beautiful sons. elizabethmeltonparsons.wordpress.com is © Elizabeth Melton Parsons 2007-2017. 1. I just spent one day of the weekend beach-combing, looking for interesting rocks to use as paperweights etc. So I can totally relate to your rock collection photos. Also, marbles were still big when I was a kid. In fact, I’ve kept a whole bunch of my best ones tied up in a sock these past few decades, like they were my personal treasure!
