I like snakes and when I saw this one next to my garden, I left it alone. When it hadn’t moved the next time I went out, I took a closer look and realized it was dead. I guess the poor thing was hit by a car and then slithered it’s way up next to my garden where it died. I thought at first it might be a cottonmouth, as we live close to a creek and have plenty of the poisonous moccasins around with similar colors and markings. But then I decided it was probably some kind of black snake/rat snake. To be honest though, I don’t have a clue. Anyone out there know for sure? Click image for larger.

I'm a novelist, poet, and artist. I love books, nature, art, and gardening. I'm a rock hound and there's a photo of me with a cool fossil rock on my about page, I take a lot of nature pictures. The background here is one of mine.
